Reese Friction Sway Control Kit for Light Weight Camper w/ BMW 3 Series
Question:
I have a 2015 BMW 328ix that I would like to pull my 1,700 lb camper trailer with. I see you have a Curt hitch that should satisfy the weight requirements. Since it is a single axle trailer which can be a little wobbly at times, are there sway control bars available that can be added to the Curt hitch for this application?

Yes, I suggest the Reese Friction Sway Control Kit # 83660. This will assist in reducing trailer sway caused by winds, curving roads or sudden maneuvers; allows you to adjust tension for the perfect amount of control and resistance. You will also need the Reese Sway-Control Bracket for 1-1/4" Drawbars # RP26005.
There are multiple trailer hitches available for the 2015 BMW 3 Series; please use our fit guide for selection of confirmed fit hitches and wiring harness for your particular 3 series. I suggest the Curt # C11367, as this is a confirmed for the 2015 BMW 3 Series and for towing, you will also need a wiring harness, I recommend the # 119250KIT.
For towing your trailer, you will also need a trailer hitch ball and Ball mount but the drop/ride will first need to be determined. Once installed, the hitch receiver should be approximately 12" from ground. With trailer set behind the vehicle, and leveled, determine the difference in elevation between the two identifying the ride/drop of ball mount needed. Match your size ball to that required by trailer and ensure you have a long enough shank for the additional thickness from the Reese Sway-Control Bracket # RP26005.
Please view the attached installation, review videos and help article. Let me know what additional help I can be.
