Is There a Plug and Play Harness for Hayes Energize III Brake Controller on 2016 MB Sprinter 3500

Question:

I am considering getting the Hayes-Lemmerz Energize III+ Electric Trailer Brake Controller - Proportional - HA81742B for my Mercedes 3500 van to operate a trailer with electric breaks. Will I need to also purchase an adapter to connect to the Mercedes brake system? or will this unit plug directly in?

I have a solution for you, and there are some brake controllers available that can be used with a plug and play wiring harness to ease installation; however the Hayes Energize III # HA81742B is not one of those controllers and it would need to be hard wired into the vehicle no matter what. If you want to go that route you can use the # HA81789-HBC to plug into the Energize III and gives you the pigtail wiring needed to hardwire.

With that said, instead of the Hayes Energize III I recommend using the Tekonsha Primus IQ # TK90160 and plug and play adapter # 3063-P. The Primus IQ is one of our most popular value brake controllers and provides you with the same proportional braking that the Energize III would, and has the same easy to use functioning of a traditional brake controller.

I've linked some review videos of these parts for you to check out, but this would be my recommendation for a plug and play controller at a good price.
