How to Install a Brake Controller on a 1999 GMC Suburban
Question:
I am a 1st timer at trying to hook up a brake controller. I recently purchased a Hopkins Agility portional/inertia brake controller and a GMC Plug-In Simple for my 1999 GMC Suburban. Supposedly my Suburban is already equiped with a tow packing since it has the added transmission cooler located in front of the radiator and I have a tow hitch... with a blue, orange, and the other 4 necessary wires cant exactly recall the colors. My problem is that I cant seem to locate exactly where I am suppose to plug in the Plug-In Simple into the factory port under the dash. If anybody has worked with hooking up a Plug-In Simple for a 99 Suburban and can direct me to the factory port location that would be very much appreciated. I can take a picture if helpful.

Your 1999 GMC Suburban does not have a port under the dash to connect a brake controller harness. You will need to hardwire the Hopkins Agility Brake Controller # HM47294 with brake controller 7 and 4-way installation kit, item # ETBC7, or a 6 and 4-way installation kit, item # ETBC6, depending on the connector you need for your trailer. These kits come with everything needed to install the brake controller and wiring from scratch as long as you have a 4-way connector installed on your Suburban.
If you do not have a 4-Way connector installed then you will need the custom fit T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4 Pole Trailer Connector, item # C55319, to install the 4-Way connector in the factory connector.
