Will The RockyMounts MonoRail Bike Rack Allow Tailgate Access On A 2017 Nissan Frontier?
Question:
I have a 2013 Nissan Frontier and was wondering if a Rocky Mounts Monorail 2 receiver will allow the tailgate to open up fully if there are no bikes on the rack and its titled away. Thank you!

We haven't been able to test-fit the Rocky Mounts Mono Rail Solo Single Bike Platform Rack # RKY10007 on a 2017 Nissan Frontier yet, but you can take a few measurements to help determine fitment. You will need to measure from the center of the hitch pin hole to the back of the tailgate when folded down; this measurement will be in an L shape which you can see in the photo I have attached. You can then compare your measurements to the bike rack's specs shown in the diagram I have attached for you. Keep in mind this is not a 100% sure way of confirming tailgate functionality since there are a few variables, however, if your hitch pin to tailgate measurements are less than the measurements shown in the diagram then you should have enough clearance to drop your tailgate.
To be extra sure, you could use Curt Hitch Extender for 2" Hitch Receivers # C45791 which will extend the bike rack out 8 more inches for extra clearance. This extender will reduce your trailer hitch's capacity by 50%. I have attached demonstration videos for these products.
