Brake Controller and Weight Distribution for 2018 Toyota 4Runner
Question:
I’m buying a Wolf Pup single axle TT, dry weights of 3300 vehicle and 470 hitch with electric brakes. Looking to upgrade vehicles to a 2018 Toyota 4Runner, I believe 4Rs come with receiver and 7 pin standard? But do they need a power wire added from battery with 30 amp breaker or are they prewired so all you do is add a brake controller and harness? I’ll also want to add a weight distribution hitch is the stock receiver on a crossmember or the frame?

The 2018 Toyota Highlander did not come with a factory 7-way or OEM brake controller wiring but we can help with that. It would come with a 4-way so to convert it to a 7-way you'd want the part # ETBC7 and you'd be set as this also comes with everything needed to wire up the brake controller too. This also comes with components needed to activate 12 volt accessory circuit too.
For a brake controller the best option is the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 # 90885 which is proportional and priced great.
The factory hitch attaches to the frame and is rated for weight distribution so for a system that would work great with a tongue weight of 470 lbs the Strait Line part # RP66082 would be what I recommend as it has the correct tongue weight range and also has best sway control at fighting sway before it starts.
