Why Can't the Curt SecureLatch be Used in the Rise Position
Question:
I’m looking closely in design of this mount. I can’t figure out why it can’t be used in rise position and only. I need an engineering answer as it to why it can’t be used not just because box says so. Thank you.

I called Curt to get the answer to why the SecureLatch Pintle Mount, part # CU59FR, states that it's not to be used in the rise position.
The answer is that it is not designed for or tested in this position. Without testing in that position, nothing can be guaranteed regarding specs or dependability.
The closest pintle mount that we have that can be used in the drop or rise position is the Gen-Y Torsion Pintle Hook, part # 325-GH-1301. The only limiting factor with this one in comparison to the Curt is that it is rated for 21K pounds. I've linked to a video review of this for you to look at.
