License Plate Camera for 2020 Ford F350

Question:

Hi. I have a 2020 F350 with a factory tailgate camera all fine until we take the tailgate off for the slide-in camper. I would like something that works with the existing Ford Synch 3 dashboard screen, and plugs into the existing OEM tailgate connectors see attached photo. The distance between the chassis-mounted connector and the license plate is about 2-3 thus Id like to avoid, if possible, a long armored cable avoiding the thick armored cable entirely, for example through an adaptor for OEM aftermarket video cable, would be great. The connector shown in the Stromberg product literature does not appear to match my OEM plug again, see photo. I may be looking at the wrong part...

I have a different solution for you since the Stromberg Carlson # VCF-0040 Back Up Camera for Ford (at web page that you asked your question at) is not a match for your Ford. It only works with Ford Super Duty Trucks model years 2011 to 2016. I reached out to my contact at Stromberg and they said that the license plate back up camera that was compatible with the 2020 built in Ford camera system was still under development.

However, since you only need a solution for those times when you have your slide in camper in place, you should consider the Furrion # FOS43TASF Backup Camera. The camera unit can be mounted anywhere that you have power. This may give you some liberty to choose a better spot than the license plate. I would think up on the top center end of the slide-in.

The signal is transmitted wirelessly to a monitor at your dash. The monitor, like the camera, can be located anywhere you like. You might want to move it inside your camper when at camp.
