Equipping 2019 Kia Sedona LX For Towing 3200 lb Pop-Up Camper

Question:

Hello, I own a 2019 Kia Sedona LX, it has a towing capacity of 3500lbs and a max hitch weight of 350lbs. I am looking to pull a Forest River 2318G popup camper, its GVWR is 3263lbs and its hitch weight is 263lbs. I would like to put a WDH as well as sway control on it, however I am not sure what my van can handle and if it even allows for one. Thank you for your help!

You can indeed use weight distribution with your 2019 Kia Sedona, and the hitches we offer for it are rated for use with weight distribution systems.

First, let's make sure your Sedona is equipped for towing, if it isn't already.

For a hitch, I'd recommend the Curt Class III, part # C13115. For a 4 pole trailer wiring harness, I'd go with # C56332 if the pop-up is NOT equipped with brakes or # TK24FR if it DOES have brakes. You'll also need a brake controller to actuate the trailer brakes. The Curt Echo, part # C51180 operates wirelessly, and once the # TK24FR wiring is installed, the installation will be plug and play. The Echo uses your smart phone to control the trailer brakes, so you won't need to bolt a brake controller to the underside of the dash.

For a weight distribution/sway control system, I'd recommend the Equal-i-zer # EQ37061ET which is rated for trailer tongue weights between 200-600 lbs, which would be prefect for your pop-up. You'll also need a shank with at least a 6 inch rise like part # EQ90-02-4100. The hitch ball is included, but you'll need 1-7/8 inch thin walled socket to install it. We offer the socket as part # EQ70-00-4800.

I've linked to some installation videos that you might find helpful.
