Replacement GM Leg Assembly for B&W Companion 5th Wheel Hitch in 2021 GMC Sierra 2500

Question:

I am buying a 2021 GMC 2500HD with the OEM puck system. I have access to a BandW companion that fits a 2006 Chevy 2500HD under rail system. What parts would I need to make what I have work in my new truck? Thanks

GM didn't offer an OEM puck system back in 2006, so what you have is likely a Reese Elite under-bed rail system that uses the same puck spacing as the Ford OEM pucks. You can check this by measuring the center to center puck spacing, which should be 30 inches across, 13 inches front to back measured center to center.

If that's the case, you can re-use your existing B&W Companion hitch head, and install it on new legs that are compatible with the different puck spacing used in the 2021 GMC Sierra 2500.

The kit you need will depend on the capacity of your current hitch and the length of your bed. If you have the short bed, you'll need to use the 20K sliding base, part # BWRVB3775..

If you have a long bed, for a 25K stationary base use # BWRVB3715 or # BWRVB3715 for a 20K.

These would be the correct GM Puck compatible B&W Companion 5th wheel hitch bases.
