The Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero and Yakima JetStream roof racks are the two most popular roof rack choices for your 2008 Grand Cherokee.

The Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero rack would consist of the following parts:

• Rhino-Rach Vortex Aero 49 inch crossbar, part # RRVA126B-2
• SX Series roof rack feet, part # RRSX100

The rack features a 143 lb capacity.

The Yakima JetStream rack consists of these parts:

• Yakima 60 Inch JetStream crossbars, part # Y00426
• Yakima Timberline Tower roof rack feet, part # Y33TR

This rack has a 165 lb capacity.

Given the choice between the two, I'd always choose the Yakima system especially if you're wanting to mount accessories in the channels in the top of the crossbars, instead of accessories that clamp around the bars. The Rhino-Rack bars use rubber strips in the top channel that you'd need to trim to fit around the accessories, because if the channels are left open, you'll get quite a bit of wind noise. A lot.

The Yakima JetStream bars use a channel that utilizes what they call SmartFill strips that will stay in place, and would compress down allowing accessories to be installed in the channel. You won't need to trim anything. Due to the higher capacity and longer crossbars, This is the kit I'd personally choose.

I've also linked to the remainder of the rack options available. I'd recommend avoiding the square bar options, as they create much more wind noise.
