Will Reese 5th Wheel Rail Adapter Work With Demco Autoslide on 2021 Ram 2500 With Puck System

Question:

I have a 2021 Ram 2500 with the factory pucks, and I think I'm going with the Demco hijacker autoslide. I know an adapter is needed, but do I have to use the Demco DM6099 or can I use the Reese RP30154? Will both work in my truck and both work with the autoslide? Thanks!

Good questions, and let's start with the fit - both the Demco 5th Wheel Rail Adapter # DM6099 and Reese 5th Wheel Rail Adapter # RP30154 are a fit for the 5th wheel puck system in your 2021 Ram 2500.

As for the Demco Hijacker Autoslide 5th wheel hitch, it is 100 percent compatible with the Reese 5th Wheel Rail Adapter for Ram OEM 5th Wheel Towing Prep Package # RP30154.

The Hijacker Autoslide is a fit for industry-standard base rails, which is essentially what the Reese adapter gives your 2021 Ram 2500, so the two are a perfect match. In regards to the Autoslide, there are two options available, both of which fit the Reese adapter, and the only difference is that one has an 18,000 lb capacity and the other has a 21,000 lb capacity.

- 18,000 lbs: Demco Hijacker Autoslide 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch with Slider # DM8550034

- 21,000 lbs: Demco Hijacker Autoslide 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch with Slider # DM8550035

No matter what capacity you choose, the Hijacker is a really smart choice for a 5th wheel hitch, not only because of how convenient the automatic slide is, but also because of its unique jaw system. The Hijacker has a single-piece jaw (see accompanying photo) that wraps totally around the king pin, and that connection is reinforced via a 3/4" solid steel bar that locks into place once the jaw is closed. The reinforced jaw system is what will give you a much quieter ride with less rattling and slack in the jaws than other hitches.

I have added links below to some video reviews for you to check out as well if you'd like.
