Will Rear Hatch of 2013 Toyota Highlander Fully Open When Yakima Skybox NX 16 Is Installed

Will the Yakima Skybox NX 16 fit so the rear door can fully open on a 2013 Toyota Highlander?

Expert Reply:
If your Highlander has the factory crossbars, Yakima tells me that you will have rear hatch clearance.
If you wish to confirm this for yourself, or if you have aftermarket crossbars, first slide the front crossbar all the way forward if it is adjustable. Measure rearward from the CENTER of your front crossbar to the seam where the hatch meets the vehicle roof. If this measurement is 47 inches or less, the Yakima Skybox NX 16 you referenced, part # Y95AV will fit on your roof without interfering with the rear hatch opening.
If your measurement shows that you will not have clearance, Yakima offers a smaller box, the RocketBox Pro 14, part # Y07192 that only needs 45 inches of clearance.
