Can the Lid of the MaxxFan Plus Roof Vent be Open While Driving
Question:
Can the fan lid be open while driving? I am concerned about wind loads on the lid and/or the mechanical arms.

According to the manual for the MaxxAir MaxxFan Plus Roof Vent, part # MA00-04500K, it is designed to be fully opened or fully closed while the vehicle is moving.
However, I do not recommend doing this at all as there's still a high chance the arms will break. It would be best to keep it closed during travel.
If you still want to keep it open while driving, one thing you could do is add a FanMate Rain Cover, part # MA00-955003, to the setup. Aside from the obvious protection from rain, this vent is built to withstand the winds and will protect your vent even further.
I've linked to a video review of this cover for your consideration.
