If you are just looking for a basic, effective trunk mount bike rack for a 2008 Scion tC then I recommend the Hollywood Racks Express 2 Bike Rack part # HR84FR. This is a great option that comes with everyhting you need to carry two bikes. In regards to installation, you'll want to use the bottom edge of the trunk lid to attach the lower straps or hooks and the lower pads should be located on the license plate.
