Parts Needed to Flat Tow 2013 Jeep Wrangler with Off Road Bumper

Question:

For a base plate kit tow tow your 2013 Jeep Wrangler that has an off road bumper with 1 inch D-rings you'd need to start with the # BX88358 for a Blue Ox setup. Then for a tow bar you'd want the # BX7420 which is the easiest to use and allows the vehicle to track the best behind the coach. For lighting you'd want the # RM-152-98146-7. The diode kit that comes with this allows you to splice into the taillight wiring so that your RV controls the vehicle taillights and does not require drilling into the taillight housings. This comes with a round 6-way connector that you will install on the front of your towed vehicle and enough coiled wire to go from there to the RV. Then for a charge line kit you'd want the part # RM-156-25 to keep the battery topped off. And finally, most states now require supplemental braking in the vehicle being flat towed. The easiest system to set up and use is the Blue Ox Patriot # BRK2016, that applies the vehicle brakes in proportion to how much the tow vehicle is braking. This is the safest way to stop and it reduces wear and tear on both vehicles. Most likely you will also need a high low adapter so that the tow bar will be level when you are flat towing. I attached a link to a page that has all of the ones we carry. I have included a couple of helpful links to our articles on flat towing for you. Be sure to consult the vehicle owners manual for more specific information on flat towing your vehicle.

The weight of the Blue Ox Avail part # BX7420 is 45 lb and the Ascent part # BX4370 is 31 lbs. They are both a bit longer so the shimmy you mentioned would be minimized when compared to other options. The Ascent is a really solid choice and would be a great option. The Patriot # BLU37TR does have some upgrades/updates over the Patriot 2 so it would be a great option. The Brake Buddy # HM39524 is great too but the Patriot is the best option for this style of setup.
