Troubleshooting MaxxFan Deluxe That Does Not Function With Remote But Will Work with Keypad
Question:
Hi, One of the two 7000k fans will not operate with either of the remote controls in my 2018 5th wheel trailer. Both remote controls will work fine with a second fan I have in this trailer. The fan in question works fine using the keypad. What do I need to do to repair this issue? New keypad or circuit board? The trailer was purchased new in November 2018, about exactly two years ago and would it still be under warranty? Please advise, and thank you very much.

I was able to check with my tech contact over at AirXcel, who manufacture the MaxxFan and he seems to think the issue is with the circuit board on the unit, which is no longer accepting the signal from the remote control. There are some things we can check to confirm this first. Start by checking the IR sensor on the fan, which should be located on the face plate of the fan; you'll want to make sure that it is not obstructed and is facing straight down. If the IR sensor checks out, you can check the voltage going in and out of the fan's circuit board to make sure that is normal; if the fan beeps when the remote is activated to try to change functions, that's a good sign that the circuit board is bad and will need replacement.
You can replace the circuit board of your MaxxFan # MA00-07500K with the Replacement Printed Circuit Board for MaxxAir Powered Lift RV Roof Vents w/ Reversible Fan # MA10A21275K.
MaxxFan does have a 2 year limited warranty, so it might be worth checking on the purchase date of the coach to see if this falls within the warranty period, which would be handled directly through AirXcel.
