What Is Needed To Flat Tow A 2017 Jeep Wrangler 4WD Sport

Question:

We have a 2017 Jeep Wrangler 4WD sport with automatic transmission that we want to tow behind our RV. Can you recommend all the parts we will need to get our Jeep ready to flat tow? For instance, tow bar hitch mounted, brake kit, lights, mounts, etc.

Absolutely!

First you will need a Base-Plate Kit and Tow Bar. I recommend the Roadmaster Crossbar-Style Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms # RM-521448-4 which is confirmed to fit your 2017 Jeep Wrangler as long as it is not a Winter, Hard Rock, or 75th Anniversary model. For a Tow Bar I recommend the Roadmaster Falcon All Terrain # RM-522 which is a great system that has a non-binding design that allows you to release your vehicle at any time even on uneven ground.

Next you will need a wiring kit to power the lights of your Jeep. I recommend the Hopkins Custom Tail Light Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles # HM56200 which does not require you to splice into you vehicles harness since it is a plug and play system for your jeep. If your RV has a 7-way connector you will need the Roadmaster 7-Wire to 6-Wire Kit # RM-98146-7 which includes the vehicle side 6-way connector to complete the wiring.

For a Brake Kit I recommend the Blue Ox Patriot # BLU37TR which is a proportional system that matches the braking force you apply to your RV to the brakes of your Jeep. You will also need the 12 Volt Outlet Kit # RM-9332 for your Jeep. I included a video of the Patriot 2 being installed on a Jeep as it installs the same as the Patriot 3.

You will also need safety cables like the Roadmaster EZ Hook Safety Cables # RM-655-68, and if your RV has a 7-way connector you will need the Roadmaster 7-Wire to 6-Wire Kit # RM-98146-7 to connect to the connector on your Jeep.

I included videos to all of the products for you to take a look at.
