Derale D15405 or D15602 Oil Cooler for 2016 Ram 1500
Question:
I have a 2016 Dodge Ram 1500, 5.7liter Hemi engine. I use this truck to tow an RV. I have had oil temps overheating up to 260 degrees fahrenheit. I intend to add an oil cooler. I am trying to decide which cooler would bring the temperature down the greatest amount with the least amount of oil pressure change. Which would you recommend between the derale 15602 or the derale 15405?

Expert Reply:
For your 2016 Ram 1500, between the Derale Plate-Fin Engine Oil Cooler Kit # D15405 and the Derale Stacked-Plate Engine Oil Cooler Kit # D15602, I highly recommend going with the latter, the stacked-plate kit.
The reason why is that the stacked-plate kits are simply the most efficient oil coolers available, which means what they do is cool more fluid - and cool it faster - than the tube and fin or plate and fin coolers do. So the best option for your Ram to get the best cooling is definitely the Derale Stacked-Plate Engine Oil Cooler Kit # D15602.
