Reese POD Trailer Brake Controller Troubleshooting
Question:
When the trailer is plugged in the green light is very dim, and when the brakes are applied there is no light at all. Is this a grounding issue?

I would verify that the Reese POD Trailer Brake Controller is getting enough power from the battery of your vehicle. Make sure that the black power wire and white ground wire coming from your controller are connected securely. You can use a circuit tester like # PTW2993 to make sure that your black power wire is getting full 12v power.
The Black wire from the controller should go to the vehicles battery, and should have a circuit breaker installed. Make sure all connections are secure to the battery, circuit breaker, and controller.
The White wire is the ground, make sure that it is attached to clean rust free metal and attached tightly.
I attached an article for you that goes over correct wiring for a trailer brake controller.
