Where do I Mount My Bed Rails in my 2017 Ram 1500 to use the Anderson Ultimate Fifth Wheel

I have a 2017 Ram Crew cab with short bed 5 1/2 and want to install an Andersen Ultimate Hitch #3200. Can you tell me the proper location in the bed to install the needed standard bed rails? Thanks in advance

To use the Andersen Ultimate Connection 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch System with Adapter part # AM3200 I recommend using the Curt Custom Fifth Wheel Installation Kit part # C16444-204 this will give you the industry standard rails you are looking for and also it will tell you exactly where to install it.

Please refer to the linked instructions for positioning information. I have also linked a video for you on the installation we did on a 2016 for reference.

There are generally interference issues between the truck and the camper in a 5.5' bed application.

Something to consider that really helps out here is the Demco Hijacker Autoslide 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Slider part # DM8550040 and the Demco Hijacker Premier Series Above-Bed Base Rails and Custom Installation Kit for 5th Wheel Hitches part # DM8552030-71 when turning sharply the AutoSlide will move rearward 22-1/2" giving you the clearance you will need in most all situations.

It is still recommended to test slowly whether you can make a full 90 degree turn in an open parking lot where if it does not allow the turn you can easily turn out of it and learn the limits of your truck and camper combo.
