Does Modulite for Wiring Harness on 2013 Ford Escape Drain Battery
Question:
I have a wire kit installed several years from e trailer. Recently battery went dead. Battery being drained, took fuse out of wiring kit. Battery no longer drained. Mechanic suspects power box malfunction draining battery. Any suggestions for remedy? Can box be replaced or entire new wire system necessary?. Is it normal for box to draw power without trailer connected?

A modulite like the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118566 you have on your 2013 Ford Escape should not take power from the battery unless the lighting functions are activated and you have a trailer connected. The reason is, that's when it gets a signal from the lights which tells it - so to speak - to draw power.
So it isn't normal for the modulite to draw power unless it is being used, and I can say that this is the first time I've ever heard of the connection being made between a battery and the modulite in regards to it being potentially drained. I'm not saying your mechanic is incorrect, I suppose it is possible considering the battery wasn't draining when you took the fuse out but it would be an extreme outlier.
In regards to a fix, the modulite by itself cannot be replaced so you do need a new T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118566.
