Recommended Trailer Brake and Drum Assemblies for UFP Replacements

Question:

I have 10” x 2 1/2” drum brakes on my boat trailer. I recently lost a bearing which chewed up the inside of my hub where the seal seats. I am going to do both sides of one axle of a tandem axle trailer. The axle is not an ez lube type. The number I find on the hub is 10040. I just want to get the right brake and hub assembly. It’s on a 14” wheel.

For your brake assemblies I recommend the Demco Hydraulic Brake Kit - Free Backing - Galvanized - 10" - Left/Right Hand Assemblies - 3.5K # 40716-15. These assemblies are galvanized to resist corrosion and will not require a reverse lockout for backing your boat trailer. You will also want the Mounting Bolts and Hardware for 10" Brake Assemblies # BRKH10A and the Brake Adjustment Spoon for Drum Brakes # W80630.

For the hubs I recommend the Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly - 3,500-lb Axles - 10" Diameter - 5 on 4-1/2 - Galvanized # AKHD-545-35-G-K. These come with a standard grease cap, but on a boat trailer if you want to have an easy to maintain option, I recommend using the etrailer Bearing Protectors w/ Covers for 1.98" Hub Bore - Chrome - Qty 2 # e99005.
