Can I Use Snow chains for 2016 Ford F-250 with 20 Wheels?

Question:

I have a 2016 F-250 4x4 Super Duty Powerstroke Diesel. The owners manual states that snow chains should not be used on this vehicle if it has the 20inch wheels. Why is this, and do you have a set of snow chains I can use on it? I actually do not have stock tires, but instead have 35x12.50 tires. However, I plan to put new tires on it next year in a 285/65/R20, which are about the same height.

There are some options for snow chains that will fit the tires on your 2016 Ford F-250 Super Duty, but according to the owner's manual, you should not use snow chains with 20" wheels. Normally, this is for clearance issues. If the fit of the tires within the wheel well is too tight, it could cause issues with turning clearance, damage your wheel wells or make contact with other parts of your truck if there is too much slack in the chains.

If you do find that your vehicle will fit while using tire chains, such as the Titan Chains # TC3831 you were looking at, it is up to your discretion whether you want to go against the manufacturer's recommendations.
