Can Roof Mounted Cargo Box be Mounted Vertically on Van Rear Ladder

Question:

Hi, Wed like to add a cargo box without adding any height to the van. Can the Thule Sidekick # TH78GC be mounted vertically on the rungs of a ladder attached to rear door of the van? If not can you please suggest another product. Thanks!

I may have an option for you, however none of the roof mounted cargo boxes we have available are designed to be mounted vertically. The mounting hardware and box design will not be secure enough for this mounting orientation when driving down the road.

Since I see there is a trailer hitch installed on your ProMaster, I instead recommend looking at a hitch-mounted cargo carrier. For a carrier that features larger cargo space similar to a roof-mounted unit, the Yakima EXO Swing Away Enclosed Cargo Carrier - 2" Hitches # Y62VR might be perfect. This will work with 2-inch receiver openings and has 10 cubic feet of space. The carrier itself swings away to allow full access to the rear of the van and it has a weight capacity of 100 pounds. This carrier comes with a locking anti-rattle hitch pin to secure the carrier to your vehicle.

I have attached a short video demonstration on this product so you can get a closer look at its features, along with a link that will take you directly to our available selection of hitch-mounted carriers that you can look through.
