Replacement Axle for Coleman Lantern Travel Trailer

Question:

Hi, I want to replace the axle on my Coleman Lantern with this axle. I know the length is different, and it will raise the frame 4. I also plan on welding new spring seats in the correct locations. I will actually be adding a tandem axle at the same time. My question is, can I use the existing brake hubs and bearings. will they fit I want to just swap the brake hubs from the old to the new. The existing axle is a dexter 4997676 the other number on it is 428510 I believe it is 86.5hf and 68.5sc. Im only interested if the bearings etc fit.

The # T3584F-EZ-8974 axle you'd looked at is compatible with an L68149 inner and a L44649 outer bearing. If that's what your current axle uses (the bearings will have the reference numbers on the side of the bearing cage), then yes this axle will be compatible with your existing hubs, assuming they're still in good condition.

You'll likely need replacement grease seals, as they'll be destroyed when you remove them to get the referenc number off the inner bearing. Assuming that the hub bore of your existing hubs is 2.565 inches, you'll need a 10-19 seal like # RG06-050. If your bearings need replacing, we offer a replacement kit that includes the seals as part # BK2-100. You'll need one kit per hub.

We also offer the replacement spring seats as part # TRSS238.
