We do have a trailer hitch receiver that will bolt onto your 1968 GMC C1500 truck with an 8 foot bed and deep drop bumper. So long as your truck has a frame that is 34" outside to outside the correct fit is the Curt 3-Piece Trailer Hitch Receiver # C15511.
As for the brake controller, you will need a few things, starting with the wiring, and keep in mind this is all going to need to be hardwired in. The first thing you will need is a 4-way, the 4-Pole Hardwire Kit # 18252.
After that you will need to add the wiring for a brake controller, including the 7-way (which the 4-way will plug into) with the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller # ETBC7.
Finally, there is the brake controller itself, and by far the best value is the Brake EVN # TK63VR.
the I-Command because it is a great value due to its unique combination of quality and cost-effectiveness. The I-Command is going to give you smooth braking, is easy to use, and has a bright display that is simple to read and understand. For a combination of quality, reliability, and price, there really isn't a better option than the I-Command. The harness you need for the controller is the Brake Control Harness # 20127.
