Troubleshooting Draw-Tite Ball Mount and Curt 1-1/4 Inch Trailer Hitch Receiver Rattle
Question:
I purchased the Draw Tite Drawbar for 1-1/4inch Hitch - 5/8inch Rise, 1-1/4inch - 9-3/4inch Long - 3.5K Item # 36053 to go with my Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class I - 1-1/4 ITEM # C11416, but my complaint is that the drawbar fits too loosely in the receiver. It should be snug but has 1/8 inch play almost and even if trailer is load balanced there is a banging. After only a few uses there is now an indentation in the drawbar where it bangs up and down at the start of the receiver. This seems to be a poor design. The drawbar should be snug to the point that if dirty, you cant slide it in without cleaning and lubing it.

Expert Reply:
I recommend measuring the inside of the hitch receiver opening and then measuring the shank of the draw bar. It may be that one of them is outside of the tolerances. If neither are obviously mis-manufactured then the best solution to your issue is to use the Roadmaster Quiet Hitch for 1-1/4" Trailer Hitches item # RM-061-125 which will ensure the tight fit in your hitch receiver.
