The installation for the Curt Trailer Hitch, # C13073, is somewhat easy if you have experience installing hitches or have basic mechanical abilities. The main obstacles that you will encounter during the installation is lowering the exhaust and trimming the heat shield. These steps are shown in the installation video that I have attached on a 2012 Kia Sorento.
If your vehicle did not come with a factory tow prep package, then the trailer wiring harness for your vehicle is the Curt Wiring Harness, # C59496. This wiring harness will hard wire into your vehicles tail light circuits and to the vehicle battery. If you are not comfortable hard wiring this harness to your vehicles tail light circuits, then I would recommend having a local dealer or auto shop perform the installation.
If you attempt to install this wiring harness yourself, it is important to use the provided circuit tester to identify the functions of each wire at your tail light assembly before splicing in the trailer wiring harness. Having a helping hand is a good idea as well. I have also attached an FAQ article on tips for routing the power wire for you to check out.
I have attached the installation instructions for the trailer hitch and wiring harness for you to check out.
