Recommended Hitch Extender with Anti-Rattle Option for Spare Tire

Question:

I have a 2020 jeep wrangler JLU with the 20x10inch spare. I think this will clear, but if not is it ok to add an extender to get this past my spare enough to easily use it, and if so what all would you put with the extender to keep it quiet? I don't want all the anti rattle with the hitch to be a waste if I just slap an extender on... Also, some of these Swagmans have the option to add-on another 2 bike section on the back and make this a 4 bike rack...does this one have that availability? Thanks,

The Swagman Dispatch 2 Bike Platform Rack # S44FR is designed to give extra clearance since the closest part of the rack sits 12" away from your hitch pin hole. To see if you have spare tire clearance, just measure from the center of hitch pin hole to outer edge of spare tire. I attached an article below with instruction for checking clearance. From what I can see though, it looks like it will fit with your 20X10 inch spare,.

However, if you find you need some extra space, you can use an extender like the Brophy Hitch Extender 7" # HE06. I attached a picture below so you can see how we used to extend the hitch past the spare tire, as well as a video to show the install process. Just a general note that using an extender reduces your total towing capacity by 50 percent.

For anti-rattle on the extender, I recommend the Anti-Rattle Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock for 2" Hitches # 63232 since it reduces rattle AND it locks down. It has a threads and a spring that work together to reduce rattle. You would then have an anti-rattle bolt on each side of the extender.

As an extra note, I have seen some people ALSO get the Brophy Stabilizer Clamp and U-Bolt # RSCP. If you aren't interested in the locking function, this works great as a standalone anti-rattle since it clamps down on your hitch. Some purchase them together if they are really concerned about side-to-side and up-and-down movement, but I personally think both work great standalone, it's just a matter of which install process you prefer. I attached videos reviewing both anti-rattle devices that you can check out.

As for if your Swagman Dispatch has an add-on 2-bike attachment, unfortunately, it does not. It's designed mainly for heavy-duty use, durability, and clearance. You might be thinking of the Swagman Semi 4.0 # S64698 with the 2-bike Add-on # S64699.
