Can Third Brake Light Be Added to Trailer Wiring
Question:
Hello, I have the stealth hitch with the towing package, but I was under the impression that brake light detection would be included with the set-up. How can I add brake light detection to the already included signal light capability at minimal cost and not a lot of additional re-wiring? For safety purposes, I would like to make sure that the trailer I am hauling will display a brake light when I brake. This is for a Tesla Model 3. Thanks.

Trailer wiring does not use a dedicated stop light. The brake lights are integrated into the same circuit as the turn signals which is a very common setup found on vehicles and 99.9% of the trailers you see on the road.
All you need in order to add a third brake light to your trailer is the Pacer Performance 3rd Brake Light Logic Module # PP20-702 which you'd wire into the trailer wiring to give you the dedicated circuit and a light. For this I highly recommend the Optronics Streamline LED Trailer 3rd Brake Light # STL80RB.
