Backup Camera/Mirror Options for 2008 F250

Question:

I am looking to replace my broken rearview mirror in my 2008 F250 with a mirror featuring a backup camera. The truck did not come with a navigation system, only the autodimming rearview mirror. I am not sure if I can do this or not. Any suggestions or help is greatly appreciated.

GCH Automotive systems offer a camera system that places the monitor in a replacement rearview mirror which sounds like a perfect option for you. The camera included with the # 3460009 system is specifically designed to install using the 3rd brake light/truck bed lamp bezel on the back of the truck cab above the rear window. Once installed, it'll serve as both a back up camera, but will also come in very handy for lining things up correctly if you have an in-bed gooseneck or fifth wheel hitch.

The Rear View Safety # RVS-772718 also uses a replacement rear view mirror as the monitor, but the camera mounts on the bumper next to the license plate. If you have a bumper hitch trailer, this can come in handy but the camera is fairly vulnerable to damage in the bumper area (most folks who have bumper tow trailers have bashed in their licence plate at least once with the trailer coupler). You'll also need to drill a hole through the bumper to mount the camera.

Between the two options, I'd personally choose the # 3460009. I've linked to some product videos for both systems.
