Comparing Camper Scissor Steps Brophy AS24 vs. Torklift TLA7804

Question:

Hello, Im looking for stairs for my truck camper that is on a 2013 Ford F250 4x4. I havent decided between the Brophy or the Torklift. First question is does the Torklift permanently attach to the truck or does it need to be removed when driving the truck? Due to my configuration, the folded stairs may hit my bumper. Second question is weight of the stairs since I will need to be removing and installing them every time I move the truck. Also, how stable are these stairs on uneven ground? I always camp off-grid and need stairs that are stable on any ground. Im considering getting the Torklift Landing Gear if needed. Another question is when the stairs are installed what is the distance between the mounting bracket and the top stair? Thanks for the help. Please let me know if you need any more info.

Both the Brophy # AS24 and the TorkLift # TLA7804 are easily removed when not in use- and it's actually recommended that you do so. Additionally, they both weigh in around 26-lbs total, so they're easy to move on and off; so they'd both be great choices for what you're looking for.

Overall I prefer the TorkLift # TLA7804 because of the quality of TorkLift products in general, plus you'll have the ability to add the All Terrain Landing Gear for TorkLift GlowStep Scissor Steps for RVs # TLA8000 to help stabilize the steps- which I do recommend since they are adjustable and will help when parked on uneven ground as you often might find yourself.

The TorkLift steps have a 3-1/2" drop from the mounting bracket to the top stair and 7-1/2" drop from stair to stair. The Brophy steps have an 4" drop from the mounting bracket to the top stair, and 8" between the other stairs. You'll just want to pay close attention to how close you mount the bracket to your door.

I've linked some review videos of these two steps for you to have a look at.
