Can Reese RP30035-186 Fifth Wheel Bracket Kit Be Used Along With B&W Turnover Ball Gooseneck Hitch

Question:

I have a 2005 ram 2500 that already has BandW turnover ball hitch installed. I want to install a reese sidewinder pinbox on my trailer. Will this rail kit fit my truck with the BandW hitch? So I can use a hitch compatible with the sidewinder.

Unfortunately, the side plates of the bracketry that attaches the Turnover Ball Hitch to the truck frame will prevent the Reese # RP30035-186 fifth wheel mounting brackets from being installed.

Your best bet for your 2006 Ram 2500 short bed would be to use the sliding B&W Companion 5th wheel hitch, part # BWRVK3400-5W with the existing standard pin box on your fifth wheel. Going this route would eliminate the need for the Sidewinder but still provide the necessary clearance between the nose of the 5th wheel and the back of the cab.

The other alternative would be to remove the B&W Turnover Ball hitch, install the # RP30035-186 rail kit and use an adapter plate like # 16055 when you want to tow a gooseneck trailer.
