Availability of Replacement Lead Jack and Parts for Stromberg Carlson 5th Wheel Landing Gear # LG-1
Question:
I gave a fifth wheel trailer with one jack that does not engage. It is the side by the motor. Not sure which side to order the lead or the follow. The jack will work but there is some play when I put pressure to engage. How hard isnitnto change this part out?

The jack with the motor is referred to as the lead jack, while the other jack is called the follower. Since the jack on the motor side is in need of replacement, you would need the lead jack. The lead jack is not terribly difficult to replace. You would need to disconnect the drive rod that connects the two legs, remove the lead jack, install the replacement lead jack, and pull the motor and gearbox off the defective jack and install on the replacement.
If you were using the Stromberg Carlson # LG-1, the Replacement Lead Jack is part # LG-179013.
What is wrong with your lead jack? Is the motor still functioning? If the gears in the jack itself are damaged, we offer a Repair Kit, part # LG-146059. A replacement motor, part # LG-217884 or gearbox, part # LG-179015 if needed.
