How to Carry Kayaks on 2014 Ford F-150

Question:

I have a 2014 F150 5.5foot bed w/ an Extang Solid Fold 2.0, and towing a Flagstaff 25BDS. Im looking for kayak transport options. The truck hitch is obviously taken for the RV. The RV hitch currently is used for bikes. Im finding it difficult to find a truck rack that doesnt need the stake pockets so i can still use the tri-fold cover. I have a Thule removable roof rack for the cab secures in door jambs. Wondering if there is a truck rack that would work with the Extang Solid Fold or if it is feasible to secure two 10-12foot kayaks on cabs top with something like J-racks?

I would utilize the roof rack on your 2014 Ford F-150. Adding the etrailer J-Style Kayak Carrier # e98878 is a great way to go and it is compatible with your Thule roof rack.

This carrier packs a lot of features normally found in higher priced options. It folds down when not in use to save some height clearance. Most kayak carriers Include a strap system but this one has a few extra features I like. The included anchors make it much easier to secure your bow and stern compared to a metal hook that requires you to run a strap around the front of your vehicle and secure it to the hitch or frame of your truck. We have tested this carrier out with recreational kayaks that are around 10 foot but others have had longer and heavier boats loaded and have really enjoyed using it.
