Best Option to Control Sway on 2017 Chevy Silverado 1500 With Air Bags Towing 5th Wheel

Question:

We have a 2017 Silverado 1500 with Load Lifter 5000 Air Lift. We tow a 7600 lb 30 ft fifth wheel with the Reese Revolution Hitch. We experience side wind and corner sway on the truck and trailer with moderate gusty wind. does not seem to impact the trailer rear as it recovers almost immediately but is always a surprise. obviously with the air lift we do not have any sag. Is there anything to be gained by adding SuperSprings. Also looking at the Roadmaster Active Suspension Custom Leaf Spring Enhancement Kit. Same question. any feedback or solution would be appreciated.

While I think there is a good solution for you here, and the RoadActive Suspension Custom Leaf Spring Enhancement Kit # RAS54FR is the superior option to the SuperSprings, the best option is going to be something a little different, and that's an anti-sway bar, the Roadmaster Rear Anti-Sway Bar # RM-1109-169.

This bar will fit your 2017 Chevy Silverado 1500 and work with air bags like your Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 Air Helper Springs # AL57204. While the other options are meant to work for different parts of your suspension, they would offer diminishing returns since you have air bags. An anti-sway bar is designed specifically to tighten up your ride to improve sway.

It works by balancing weight transfer and roll; the force that would normally be put on the axle - and your air bags or other suspension system - goes to the anti-sway bar instead, which braces your Chevy to keep it stable. This would definitely be the route I would go and is the best option for you.

I have added a link to the directions as well as a video review of the Roadmaster Rear Anti-Sway Bar # RM-1109-169.
