Troubleshooting Brake Controller Installation Only Works With Manual Override

Question:

Couple days ago I install prodigy p2 break controller on my 2014 Cadillac Escalade everything works except when I press brake pedal the trailer is not breaking but when I pull manual brake on the unit itself trailer stops. Not sure why is this Happening is there anything you could suggest for me to check or are we missing something here thank you

Thank you for your purchase from etrailer of the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller # 90885. It sounds like the controller is not working when you press the brake pedal but is when you use the manual override which means you have an issue with the stop light switch.

Use circuit tester # PTW2979 and verify you have the stoplight wire connected properly - this wire will only show power when you have the brake pedal depressed and not show power at any other time.
