Availability of Bike Rack To Fit on 2005 Chevrolet Equinox With Factory Spoiler
Question:
Will the Outway work with my 2005 Equinox with spoiler. I am nervous the plastic spoiler at the the top of the hatch will crack or break where the top cables would attach. Should I be concerned?

Thule does list the Thule OutWay 2 Bike Trunk Rack, part # TH45JV, as a fit on a 2005 Chevrolet Equinox, and it clarifies that it works with all models. The directions say to place the top clips in the gap at the front edge of the top of the hatch. I would check your vehicle and determine if the top clips can attach to the top edge of your hatch without touching the spoiler. If the straps can attach without interfering with the spoiler you should be able to use the trunk bike rack and Thule says yes, so they have tested it.
You do not want to use the rack if the straps will come in contact with the spoiler. I am including a link to the installation instructions.
To eliminate any concerns with the trunk bike rack hitting the spoiler I would recommend using a hitch with a hitch bike rack to haul your bikes.
I would recommend the Draw-Tite Class III 2-Inch Hitch, part # 36408, along with the Thule Camber 2 Bike rack, part # TH9058, for your Chevrolet Equinox. The # TH9028XT bike rack is one of our most popular 2 bike hitch bike racks. This setup will allow you to carry 2 bikes at the rear of your vehicle and not interfere with the spoiler.
I am including links to the installation instructions on the hitch and to a video of the hitch being installed on a Chevrolet Equinox. Also, a link to a video review of the Thule bike rack being installed.
If you are going to be carrying women's or children's bikes that do not have the horizontal bar at the top of the frame, you will want to use the Thule Bike Adapter Bar, part # TH982XT. It attaches to the center seat post and to the handlebar post and provides a horizontal bar, so the bike can ride level on the bike rack.
I am including a video link to a review on the Thule bike adapter bar.
