Hitch and Wiring For 2020 Subaru Crosstrek

Question:

I see hole enlargement is required for 2018 and 2019 Subaru Crosstrek. Is it also required for the 2020 model?

To install the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" Item # C13382 on the 2020 Suburu Crosstrek it will require the hole to be enlarged. This is so the hardware will fit inside the frame rail. That doesn't necessarily mean the whole thing needs to be enlarged. I like to take a grinding bit in a drill and just hold it against one edge until you can fit the head of the carriage bolt into the hole. Typically if you can fit the bolt in then the spacer block will fit. Once you have enlarged the hole you also want to spray the bare metal with a corrosion resistant coating like paint or clear coat to prevent corrosion later.

If you plan on towing I recommend T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector Item # 118467. This harness allows your trailer to receive light functions from the vehicle so you are legal and safe.

If you plan to run your wiring outside the vehicle I recommend using No-Drill Mount Bracket, Long Item # 18136 and Mounting Bracket 4-Pole Flat Item # 18144 to give your wiring a more permanent mounting location.
