Brake Controller and 7-way Trailer Connector Installation on 2001 Toyota Tundra
Question:
I have a Travel trailer with 7pin round connector and electric brakes. i want to install the wiring and and an E/brake control onto my truck. What do i need to for the entire wiring job? Is there a complete plug and play kit? If not which kits do i need to purchase? All i see on the web site is wiring for 4 pin kits. thanks

There isn't a plug and play option available for the 2001 Toyota Tundra, but you can certainly still install a brake controller and a 7-way trailer connector, and it's really not all that difficult.
First, choose a brake controller. I'd recommend a proportional controller like the Tekonsha Primus, part # TK90160. A proportional controller is your best choice for safe, reliable and predictable braking. You'll also need our Brake Controller Installation Kit, part # ETBC7 and a # 118378 trailer wiring harness.
The trailer wiring harness plugs into the connector on the driver's side frame rail as shown in the linked video. The 4 pole on this harness will plug into the 4-pole to 7-way adapter included in the Brake Controller install kit. The kit includes all the wiring and hardware necessary to complete the installation. I've linked to an install video showing a different brake controller being installed on a 1st generation Tundra, but the procedure would be identical for pretty much any controller. I'll also link to a help article that explains in depth how the install kit works.
