Curt Fifth Wheel Hitch Recommendation for 2019 Ford F-250 Short Bed with OEM Rail Kit

Question:

We are looking to purchase a fifth wheel with a dry weight of approximately 13,900 pounds and a cargo weight of approximately 2,500 pounds. Will the Curt E16 16k - C16515-16020 fifth wheel hitch work with this trailer? I will be pulling it with a 2019 4x4 F250 short bed with a puck system. Thanks for any advice!

The Curt E16 Slider part # C16515-16020 is a fit for the factory rail kit of your 2019 Ford F-250 short bed and easily has weight capacity for the trailer you mentioned. Now that said this is going to be a pretty noisy hitch setup since the jaw system uses a slide bar that doesn't hold the trailer's kin pin tightly at all. You'll feel the trailer hit the hitch every time you stop or take off. It's a little more money but the Curt A16 # C16520-16020 would be a much better option and is definitely a better value. It has a jaw design that wraps tightly to the king pin and locks in place for a much smoother ride!

I attached a review video for this hitch for you to check out as well.

I have a follow up question. I just received my A16 C16520 fifth wheel hitch. How do I determine what height to install the head? I drive a 2019 F250 short bed FX4 and will be pulling an Alpine 3651RL fifth wheel. Thanks.

To determine the right hitch height you'll need to take a couple measurements, one from the ground to the bottom of the trailer king pin and one from the ground to the bed floor on your F-250. The difference between the two measurements will give you the ideal head height for your Curt A16.
