Towing a Motorcycle Trailer with a Class I Trailer Hitch on a 1992 Jeep Wrangler
Question:
I plan to load a 2013 Harley Davidson Sportster onto a utility trailer with 1500 lb. capacity. I am pulling it with a jeep wrangler with this hitch. The trailer and hitch have a 200lb. tongue weight, The motorcycle weighs 500 lbs. By loading the bike over the trailer axle will this product be strong enough. Thank you

The etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Matte Black Finish - Class III - 2" # e98859, is rated for a maximum tongue weight capacity of 350 lbs and a maximum towing capacity of 3,500 lbs. You should not experience problems when towing, assuming the tongue weight of your trailer will not exceed the 350 lbs and the total weight of the trailer will not exceed 3,500 lbs.
When towing valuable cargo, it is always better to be safe than sorry.
If you choose to install the trailer hitch, then you can use ball mount, # D-4, Hitch Pin and Clip, # PC3, and either a 1-7/8 inch hitch ball, # 19260, or a 2 inch hitch ball, # 19247, depending on the size your trailer requires.
