Do the Removable Arms from Base Plate Kit RM-521448-5 Fit on Base Plate Kit RM-524447-4

Question:

Why do the removable arms have a flat plate? Im switching from a 2015 Ford Focus to a 2017 Lincoln MKX. The Roadmaster 521448-5 on the Focus has arms that have a U-joint that connects directly to the towbar. Can I use the arms from the 521448-5 on the 524447-4? I dont understand what the flat plates on these removable arms are for. Ive attached a photo of the arm from the Focus baseplate.

The flat plate is for a cross bar bracket. The cross bar comes with brackets that mount to the plates on the removable arms. This crossbar comes with the tow bar. The removable arms from the Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit RM-521448-5 will not fit the Roadmaster Crossbar-Style Base Plate Kit
RM-524447-4

If you are still wanting to use the same tow bar then I recommend:
Replacement Crossbar for Roadmaster Motorhome Mounted Tow Bars Item # RM-067
Roadmaster Tow Bar Quick Disconnects - Car Side Only Item # RM-222

I have attached a link to a video to walk you through how to install the crossbar brackets and crossbar.

To complete your flat tow set up on your 2017 Lincoln MKX I recommend:
Roadmaster Universal Hy-Power Diode Wiring Kit Item # RM-154
Roadmaster Brake-Lite Relay Kit for Towed Vehicles Item # RM-88400
Demco SBS Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System - Proportional Item # SM99251 if your RV has electric brakes
or
Demco SBS Second Vehicle Kit for Air Force One Supplemental Braking System Item # SM99209 if your RV has air brakes
