will this harness work correctly with a trailer that has brakes

You will need The Tow Ready Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring # 118345 to provide you with a 4-way that will power the tail lights of your trailer, but in order to operate the brakes you will need to convert the 4-way to a 7-way.
In order to do that you will need to install a Brake Controller 7 and 4 Way Installation Kit # ETBC7. This will give you everything you need to have fully functioning brakes on your trailer. Check out the installation instructions and installation video I attached for this product also.
You will also need a brake controller to activate the trailers brakes. For that I would recommend you get a Tekonsha P2 Brake Controller # 90885. This is one of our best selling brake controllers because of how easy it is to set up and how well it works.
