Is 6-1/4" Ventline Vanair Trailer Roof Vent w/ Fan Good for Moving Smoke Out of Fire Pit Shelter

Question:

I built a 14’ X 22 ‘ fire pit shelter. The height of the peak inside is 12 feet. I would like to install this unit above the fire pit in the peak. If this unit moves 100 com/ hour, it should have np problem venting out a little smoke from the shelter. Thank you.

The Ventline Vanair Trailer Roof Vent w/ 12V Fan # VP-543SP will do a good job at helping to vent out some of that smoke, but something this small makes me a little nervous if your shelter doesn't have any other kind of ventilation if I'm being completely honest. If the shelter is open and this is just to help keep smoke from getting trapped at the roof go for it, otherwise I'd be sure to have the fire department and/or city come out and make sure that the shelter will have enough ventilation if it's supposed to be totally enclosed with no other vents.

This vent is a good way to help relieve some of the pressure from heat in an RV that is not being used or if you have a really small teardrop trailer. It wasn't really designed to move smoke out of a building so I wouldn't rely solely on this to keep your shelter smoke-free.
