Hitch and Bike Rack Ground Clearances for 2015 Honda Odyssey
Question:
Hello. I have been researching your site because I am in the need of a hitch for my 2015 Honda Odyssey. I was hoping for a 2 inch hitch because most bike racks are for two inch hitches. I have also been reading about ground clearance though. Im confused what to purchase. Any suggestions? Thanks

Because of the design of a minivan like your 2015 Honda Odyssey, ground clearance at the rear of the vehicle is certainly something to keep in mind when choosing hitch mounted accessories like bike racks or cargo carriers.
For a hitch, I'd recommend the Curt Class III hitch, part # C13068. I prefer Curt hitches because of the high quality powder coat finish they use. All the hitches for the Odyssey will have the same approximate 11-1/2 to 11-3/4 inch amount of ground clearance under them which is dictated by the location of the bumper. Your best bet would be to use hitch accessories that have a rise in the shank to improve ground clearance.
The Swagman Trailhead is a mid-priced bike rack option, available in a 2 bike # S63360, 3 bike # S63365 and 4 bike # S63380 capacity. In spite of this model's price point, the Trailhead has awesome features like padded anti sway cradles that tightly secure your bikes and prevent them from swaying back and forth. The rack includes an anti-rattle hitch pin that prevents the rack from moving around in the hitch. The bike rack's shank has a 3 inch rise for additional ground clearance.
For women's bikes with a step through frame, you'll want to use a frame adapter bar like # 64005. An adapter bar spans the distance between the seat post and the handlebar gooseneck, providing a level attachment point for the bike rack.
