Parts Needed to Install 7 way Connector on 2009 Suzuki Equator
Question:
I have a 2009 Suzuki Equator 2wd 6cyl. Years ago I installed a 4pin trailer harness which included the harness that is installed in the passenger side panel. Im needing to install a 7pin adapter to pull an RV, do I need to replace that harness in the panel, or just plug in the 7pin adapter under the truck? Im also curious if you would have any ideas on how heavy of a trailer would be recommended for this vehicle. What im finding online indicates up to 6300lbs but that seems a lot for a truck this size. thanks.

In order to add a 7 way connector to your 2009 Suzuki Equator, you can simply use the # ETBC7, which will utilize your existing 4 way. You won't need to replace the existing harness, but once you plug it in to the ETBC7 you'll need to run a wire to your battery to supply 12v power and one to your brake controller to complete all of the circuits on the 7 way connector. I've linked a basic installation video of this connector that you can use as a guide.
When it comes to the towing capacity of your 2009 Suzuki Equator, from what I was able to find in my research is that it's going to vary depending on whether you've got a 2wd or 4wd, but the 6300-lbs was fairly close for both models. Your best source for this information is going to be the vehicle's owner's manual where it will allow you to match up the different features your truck might have with the correct towing capacity. Suzuki's are usually fairly tough little vehicles, so I'm not terribly surprised by the beefy capacity, but I do recommend confirming this within the owner's manual.
If you also need a brake controller, the Tekonsha Primus IQ # TK90160 is a good choice for proportional braking control of your trailer; to install this with a plug and play adapter you can use the # 3050-P.
I did link some review and installation videos of these parts for you to have a look at, as well.
