Troubleshooting Lippert Motorized RV Steps
Question:
Rv steps ? I replaced the lippert motor and the steps worked about three times then they locked in. When I try and open the door the motor seems to try and run but the steps move about 1/8 of an inch and stop?

According to Lippert, there's several troubleshooting steps you can take.
1- Ensure that the motor is getting full power. If it's receiving less than 11 volts, it won't operate.
2- Make sure the ground connections are good. Remove the ground, sand the area where the ground connection is down to bare metal, then reattach ground.
3- Remove the motor or disengage it from the linkage/gearbox. Apply voltage directly to motor, to rule out motor as being bad.
4- With motor removed or disengaged, try operating the steps manually by pulling on it, to see if anything is bent that would physically prevent steps from moving.
Please let me know what you find during the troubleshoot. I can get back to Lippert with your findings and we can go on from there.
