Parts Needed to Tow a Trailer with a 2010 Ford Transit Connect XLT

Question:

Hello, I am looking to add towing capacity to a 2010 Ford Transit connect XLT. According to Ford, I dont think these have towing capacity. I would love to find out if it actually is possible. Can you please verify if it is possible. If it is, can you send the tow hitch I would need. I am also looking to tow a small motorcycle a scooter, Kymco Like 150i maybe you have something for that as well? Thank You

We definitely have parts you can use so that you can tow a trailer with your 2010 Ford Transit Connect XLT, however since the owner's manual states that Ford does not advise towing with your vehicle I don't really have a way to verify a safe towing capacity so you'll need to reach out to your local Ford dealer or just understand that you'll be flying blind when it comes to safe towing weight ratings.

If you decide that you still want to tow with your Transit Connect then I recommend installing the Curt Trailer Hitch # 13076 and the T-One Wiring # 118585 as they are the best in their categories.

To complete your towing setup you'll also need a ball mount and for that I recommend checking out Ball Mount Kit # 989900 because it includes two ball mounts, one with a 3/4” rise/2” drop and the other with a 2-3/4” rise/4” drop, a 1-7/8” hitch ball, a 2” hitch ball, and a pin and clip. You will want to refer to the attached ball mount article to ensure that this kit is correct for your towing application.

If you were thinking about using a motorcycle carrier like part # e98873 then I do recommend using an actual trailer instead simply because scooters like the Kymco 150i you mentioned are more heavy on one side so they will put pressure on that side and can eventually damage this kind of carrier.
