Are Curt Base Plates on 2018 Chevy Equinox Compatible With Roadmaster Falcon 2 Tow Bar

Question:

Your expert reply regarding C28FR states that this is compatible with Roadmaster with a correct adapter. What is the correct adapter? I have the Falcon 2 and the removable arms. In prior towed vehicles I have always been able to use my Falcon 2 tow bar with base plates that are compatible with Blue Ox. Also are there any advantages or disadvantages in using the direct wiring kit and bulb verses using the wiring kit that attaches to the cars system? In addition other that the bulb type what are the differences between the standard bulb direct wire vs the LED?

I reached out to Curt, who said you can use the Curt Custom Base Plate Kit # C28FR with your 2018 Chevy Equinox and the Roadmaster Falcon 2 Tow Bar # RM-520 so long as you use an adapter designed for Blue Ox base plates. So what you need is the Roadmaster Tow Bar to Blue Ox Brackets Adapter # RM-031.

As far as the wiring kits on your '18 Equinox (excluding Premier) the LED and standard bulb and socket kits, which are the Roadmaster Tail Light Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles - LED Bulb and Socket # RM-152-LED and the Roadmaster Tail Light Wiring Kit with Bulbs # RM-155 are that one uses LEDs, which are bright and last longer.

Between these and universal wiring kits that wire into your actual tail lights such as the Roadmaster Universal Wiring Kit with Smart Diodes for Variable Voltage Incandescent Tail Lights # RO94FR, the advantage goes to the bulb and socket kits because they completely bypass your vehicle's wiring, so there won't be any issues between the two. Because of that I recommend the Roadmaster Tail Light Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles - LED Bulb and Socket # RM-152-LED.

I've added links to install videos of both bulb and socket kits on an '18 Equinox for you to check out as well.
